I salute you brother
Jim Carroll is dead. I still think of him as Hawk from “Time Considered As A Helix Of Semi-Precious Stones”. I always will.

all three of the songs from Fridays are on Youtube, all are really fine performances & all seem to be at least vaguely appropriate to the moment.
also- am I right in thinking that’s Allen Lanier on the keys? looks like him.
thanks for reminding me of that Delaney story.

I just saw your comment on CC’s blog where you mentioned a music communion at your church. Tell me more! (Please.)

Lizard Eater, I will write a post here about the music communion. There’s just a word or two about it in the schedule for our revival, which I will email you. By the way, I’ve been following you and your journey for a few weeks now, skimmed most of it and read the hard parts closely. You’re navigating it with an amazing amount of grace.
Urk, I still remember that video cassette Billy had of Jim Carroll on Fridays. If my memory is right, it died the first time he tried to play it for me. And isn’t that Delaney story great? It’s one of my three favorite works at that length, and the other two are by James Baldwin and Herman Melville. Did you make the same connection?

Oh, by the way, Urk, you know how I am with faces, but: The Blue Oyster Cult website says A short-lived competitor to Saturday Night Live. Allen Lanier guests on piano with the Jim Carroll Band. Carroll performs 3 songs. Scroll a little ways down.
